July 22-25th-2010 - Lakeville Katia's 8th Dance Retreat....A Success! Check out the Retreat page of this site for details of this year's 8th Retreat with photos and comments of attendees.
August 29th, 2010-Tribute to George Abdo. Katia will be teaching and performing at the Tribute to George Abdo event sponsored by Zabeth. For full information check Zabeth's website.

September 8th - October 6th, 2010-Wednesday night classes will begin in Lakeville Katia will continue her multi-level technique classes with a new weeknight WEDNESDAYS in Lakeville, MA at Kalia Karr Studio from 7:45-9:15pm beginning on September 8th for a 5-week session @ $90. Drop-ins welcome @$22 per class.

September 25th, and 26th, 2010-EGYPT ON CAPE COD Sabah of VT and MA presents EGYPT ON CAPE COD with Katia of Boston at Sabah's Summer Oasis in beautiful N.Truro, MA. There will be Two Middle Eastern Dance Workshops: Level I (Technique)10:30 to 12:30pm and Level II (Choreography)1:30 to 3:30pm. There will be a catered Dinner at 7:00pm and a Hafla under a Bedouin Tent. Sunday Katia will be teaching private and semi-private classes and performance critiques by appointment. October 27th - December 6th, 2010-Wednesday night classes will begin in Lakeville Katia will continue her multi-level technique classes on Wednesdays in Lakeville, MA at Kalia Karr Studio from 7:45-9:15pm beginning on October 27th for a 6-week session (with a break for Thanksgiving week) @ $115. Drop-ins welcome @$22 per class.

  • Choreography, staging and coaching for performing groups and solo artists focusing on technique, style, expression and understanding Middle Eastern music.

Teaching Philosophy

Katia can make a positive difference in your dance! She has inspired thousands of students with her dedication, dance knowledge and ability to convey the essence of the Oriental dance. Katia teaches aspiring young dancers in Middle Eastern movement technique and coaches professionals in performance technique and music interpretation.

Katia teaches dance workshops in classical and folkloric styles of Oriental dance. With her years of experience in theater as well as many years in nightclub performance, Katia feels that "dancers need good technique and the ability to think on their feet to live music. The study of choreography not only inspires one with beautiful dances but increases sensitivity to music, enhances interpretation of musical dynamics and builds dance vocabulary for live performance."
